QIF questions

Which programs read QIF?

Quicken (older versions natively, newer via conversion), QuickBooks Desktop through third-party import, Moneydance, YNAB, GnuCash, KMyMoney, Microsoft Money and many others.

What date format does the QIF use?

MM/DD/YYYY, which Quicken and QuickBooks expect by default. Amounts are signed: negative for money out.

Should I choose QIF or QBO/OFX?

If your software accepts OFX or QBO, use those — they carry transaction IDs and the closing balance. QIF is for tools that only read QIF.
