What's in the OFX file
- OFX 1.02 SGML — the format banks themselves send to Quicken, Xero and Sage.
- Signed amounts, ISO currency, posted dates, unique FITIDs and the closing balance.
- Import: Xero → Manage account → Import a statement (OFX); Sage → Bank feeds → Import statement; GnuCash → File → Import → OFX/QFX.
- Same data as the Excel file: rows you excluded on the result page are left out.

OFX questions
Which apps import OFX?
Xero, Sage, QuickBooks (as .qbo), Quicken (as .qfx), GnuCash, Banktivity, MoneyMoney, Wave, Moneydance, YNAB (via import) and most bank-reconciliation tools.
Is OFX better than CSV?
For accounting imports, yes: it carries signed amounts, dates, a currency, unique transaction IDs and the closing balance in a fixed structure, so nothing has to be mapped and re-imports don't duplicate.
Can I convert a scanned statement to OFX?
Yes. Scanned PDFs go through OCR automatically; rows that fail the running-balance check are flagged so you can review them before exporting.
