Bank statement converter for UK banks

Turn any UK bank statement PDF into a clean spreadsheet or an import file for Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent. Dates stay day-first, amounts keep their pence, and every row is checked against the running balance before you download.

Built for UK statements

UK statements print dates day-first (12/08/2026, 12 Aug 26). Rowvert infers the order from the whole statement, so 03/04 is read as 3 April, not March 4, and exports real Excel dates. The Xero CSV uses DD/MM/YYYY as Xero UK expects.

Currency is detected as GBP (£) and written to the Summary sheet. Transaction codes stay in the description so bank rules and reconciliation still match:

Who uses it in the UK

Self Assessment and Making Tax Digital

Clients who hand over a year of PDFs instead of a bank feed. Convert them in one go and import into the software you file from — useful now that Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies to sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000.

Catch-up bookkeeping and closed accounts

Bank feeds only reach back so far and stop when an account is closed. PDF statements fill the gap without retyping.

Landlords and letting agents

Check a tenant's statements for affordability and run the authenticity score to spot edited PDFs before signing.

Mortgage brokers

Pull income and outgoings from three to six months of statements into a spreadsheet you can total and filter.

Checking an applicant's statement? Run the fake bank statement check — it knows the UK transaction codes above.

UK bank statement questions

Which UK banks does it work with?

All of them. Rowvert reads the statement layout rather than relying on a template, so Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Halifax, NatWest, Santander, Nationwide, TSB, Monzo, Starling, Revolut, Wise, Tide and building societies all convert the same way. The bank pages below explain where each one keeps its PDF statements.

Will dates be read as UK format?

Yes. The date order is inferred from every date on the statement, so an ambiguous 03/04 follows the unambiguous 25/04 around it. The Excel file holds real dates; the Xero CSV is written DD/MM/YYYY.

Can I import the result into Xero, Sage or FreeAgent?

Yes. Xero takes the Xero CSV or OFX file; Sage Accounting and FreeAgent take OFX or QIF. QuickBooks Online UK takes the QuickBooks CSV or the QBO file.

Is it UK GDPR compliant?

The PDF is processed in memory and never stored; only the extracted rows are kept for your plan's retention period and can be deleted at any time. The privacy policy lists every sub-processor and the legal basis for processing.

What does it cost in pounds?

Plans are priced in US dollars and your card is charged the sterling equivalent at your bank's rate. You can convert one page a day without an account and five pages a day with a free account, with no card required.

Does it handle scanned statements and paper statements?

Yes. Scans and phone photos go through OCR automatically, and rows read from an image are flagged so you can check them against the original.
