How it works

Three steps, no templates to configure. The extraction engine reads the statement the way an accountant would.

Step 1

Upload the PDF

Drag in a statement from any bank. Scanned statements are run through OCR automatically.

Step 2

We extract every transaction

Date, description, debit, credit and balance are detected per row, then checked against the running balance so nothing is missed.

Step 3

Download Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX or QIF

Typed columns, a Summary sheet, and ready-to-import files for QuickBooks (.qbo or CSV), Xero, Quicken and any OFX-compatible software.

Already have a QBO, OFX, QFX, QIF or CSV file?

Our free file converters move transactions between QuickBooks, Quicken, Xero and spreadsheets — no account, nothing stored.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a PDF bank statement to Excel?

Upload the PDF on Rowvert. The converter detects the transaction table, extracts each row (date, description, debit, credit, balance), checks the totals against the statement's closing balance and gives you an .xlsx file with real dates and numbers. It takes a few seconds per statement.

Is it free?

Yes for small volumes: 1 page every 24 hours without an account, 5 pages a day (up to 20 a month) with a free account. Paid plans start at $15/month for 400 pages, and a one-time 100-page pack costs $12.

Does it work with scanned or photographed statements?

Yes. Scanned PDFs and photos are run through OCR automatically. Rows read from an image are marked so you can double-check them, and the balance check catches most reading errors.

Can it tell if a bank statement is fake?

Every conversion includes an authenticity check: the arithmetic and running balance a bank never gets wrong, date order, round-number and Benford tests, and the traces editing software leaves inside a PDF (producer, timestamps, incremental saves, fonts, annotations), summarised as a 0–100 score with each finding explained. It is decision support, not proof — see https://rowvert.com/verify-bank-statement.

Which banks are supported?

Any bank. There are no templates to pick: the engine reads the statement's layout and column headers. We publish guides for major US, UK, Canadian and Australian banks, and statements in other languages and currencies work too.

How accurate is the extraction?

Every file is reconciled: opening balance + credits − debits must equal the closing balance printed on the statement. If a row doesn't fit the running balance it is highlighted for review, and you can remove it before downloading. Digital PDFs typically reconcile at 100%.

Can I import the result into QuickBooks or Xero?

Yes. Besides Excel and standard CSV you can download a QuickBooks .qbo (Web Connect) file or 3-column CSV, a Xero-ready CSV or OFX, plus QFX for Quicken and QIF — and use each product's bank statement import.

Is my bank statement safe?

The PDF is processed in memory and never written to disk. Only the extracted spreadsheet is stored, encrypted, for your plan's retention window, then deleted automatically. Statements are never used to train models and never sold. See the Privacy Policy.

How many pages can one file have?

Up to 100 pages and 25 MB per PDF. Multi-month statements are handled as one file; each page counts toward your allowance.

Balance-checkedOpening + credits − debits must equal closing, on every file. Rows that don't add up are flagged.
