Bank statement to QBO converter
The .qbo file QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online import through Banking → Web Connect, with unique transaction IDs so re-imports never duplicate. Any bank, digital or scanned PDF, with the running balance reconciled before you import anything.
What's in the QBO file
- OFX 1.02 structure with the INTU.BID / INTU.USERID tags QuickBooks requires — QuickBooks Desktop (2019+) and QuickBooks Online both accept it.
- Every transaction carries a unique FITID, so importing the same statement twice never creates duplicates.
- Import: QuickBooks Desktop → File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files; QuickBooks Online → Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload from file.
- Closing balance (LEDGERBAL) and statement period included, so the bank feed reconciles to the paper statement.

QBO questions
What is a .qbo file?
A QuickBooks Web Connect file — the format your bank would send to QuickBooks if it offered a direct download. It is an OFX file with two QuickBooks-specific tags. Rowvert builds it from your PDF statement.
Does it work with QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Desktop imports it through File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files; Online through Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload from file. Both accept .qbo.
Will I get duplicate transactions if I import twice?
No. Each transaction has a stable FITID; QuickBooks skips ones it has already seen.
Why not just use the QuickBooks CSV?
QuickBooks Online accepts CSV, but QuickBooks Desktop does not, and CSV imports lose the closing balance and duplicate-protection that .qbo carries. If your version accepts .qbo, prefer it.
How do I convert a PDF bank statement to QBO?
Upload the PDF on Rowvert, check the reconciled table, and click 'QuickBooks (.qbo)'. One page a day is free without an account.
