When you need to convert CSV to QFX
- Your bank isn't connected to Quicken or only exports CSV.
- You track a foreign or fintech account (Wise, Revolut, a broker's cash account) in Quicken.
How to convert CSV to QFX
- Drop your .csv file on the converter (up to 5 MB).
- Check that "Convert to" says QFX, and pick the date order if your dates are ambiguous.
- Click Convert: the QFX file downloads straight away. Nothing is stored.
- Open or import it: Quicken for Windows — File → File Import → Web Connect (.QFX) File, then link the download to an existing account or create one.
What happens to your data
- Columns and date order are detected automatically; Debit/Credit columns are combined into one signed amount.
- Each line gets a stable FITID so re-importing the same CSV doesn't duplicate.
- The file carries a Quicken INTU.BID identifier and the .qfx extension.
Importing the QFX file
- Quicken for Windows
- File → File Import → Web Connect (.QFX) File, then link the download to an existing account or create one.
- Quicken for Mac
- File → Import → Bank or Brokerage File, then choose the account.
What is a CSV file?
A CSV file is a plain-text table: one row per transaction, columns separated by commas (or semicolons in many European banks). Every bank lays its CSV out differently, with its own column names, date order and sign convention, which is why accounting software often rejects a bank's CSV as it is.
What is a QFX file?
A .qfx file is Quicken's version of OFX. The content is OFX with an INTU.BID tag that identifies the bank to Quicken. Quicken imports .qfx through Web Connect and uses each transaction's FITID to skip lines it already has.
CSV to QFX: questions
Will Quicken accept it?
Quicken checks the bank identifier against its list of Web Connect institutions. Most imports work; if Quicken refuses the institution, convert the CSV to QIF instead.
Can I import into a credit card account?
The file is written as a bank account. Quicken lets you choose the target account when you import.
Is the CSV to QFX converter free?
Yes. Format-to-format conversions are free and need no account. Files are converted in memory and never stored. Converting PDF bank statements is a separate tool with a free daily allowance.
Only have a PDF statement? Convert a PDF bank statement to QFX — digital or scanned, any bank.
