How to download your NatWest bank statement

NatWest lets you download statements as PDF in online banking and in the app. Transactions can also be exported as Excel, PDF, CSV, OFX. Below: the exact steps, how far back you can go, and how to turn a PDF statement into Excel, CSV or QuickBooks.

Download a PDF statement in online banking

  1. Log in to Online Banking at onlinebanking.natwest.com.
  2. Select 'Statements & transactions' in the main menu, then 'Statements'.
  3. Choose the account and the year from the dropdowns.
  4. Click the statement period link; it downloads as a PDF.

Download a statement in the NatWest app

  1. Log in to the NatWest app and select the account.
  2. Tap the 3-dot icon at the top and choose 'Statements'.
  3. Select the statement you want to view.
  4. Tap the export button at the top right and choose how to save or send it.

Export transactions as CSV or another format

ExcelPDFCSVOFX

  1. Log in to Online Banking and select 'Statements & transactions', then 'View transactions'.
  2. Choose the account and adjust the search fields (date, type, description or amount).
  3. Press 'View transactions' to show the results.
  4. Select 'Export to Excel' or 'Download PDF'.

NatWest's export instructions name Excel and PDF; a separate NatWest FAQ on accounting software lists OFX (Microsoft Money, Quicken, Sage Line 50) and CSV (Excel, text) files.

How far back can you go?

NatWest says statements can be downloaded going back up to 7 years, and transactions can be searched back 7 years in Online Banking, provided the account has been open that long.

Good to know

  • The data export sits under 'View transactions' in Online Banking; the app route documented by NatWest only produces PDFs.
  • NatWest no longer offers midata downloads and points customers to the Excel or PDF transaction export instead.
  • If you cannot print a PDF statement, a posted copy has to be requested through Cora chat.

Convert your NatWest statement to Excel

Statement PDFs can't be sorted, summed or imported. Drop one on Rowvert and get a spreadsheet with one row per transaction — date, description, debit, credit, balance — checked against the statement's own closing balance. Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo or CSV), Xero, OFX and QIF.

  1. Download the PDF statement using the steps above.
  2. Drop it on the converter — no template to choose, scanned PDFs work too.
  3. Download Excel, CSV, or a QuickBooks / Xero-ready file.

Can I download my NatWest statement as a CSV?

Yes: NatWest's transaction export offers Excel, PDF, CSV, OFX (steps above). Statements themselves come as PDF. If the export doesn't reach back far enough, convert the PDF statements to CSV with Rowvert.

How far back can I download NatWest statements?

NatWest says statements can be downloaded going back up to 7 years, and transactions can be searched back 7 years in Online Banking, provided the account has been open that long.

How do I convert a NatWest PDF statement to Excel?

Download the statement PDF, drop it on the Rowvert converter and download Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo or CSV), Xero, OFX or QIF. Each row is checked against the statement's running balance, and 1 page a day is free without an account.

Does Rowvert work with scanned NatWest statements?

Yes. Scanned or photographed statements go through OCR automatically. Rows read from an image are marked so you can double-check them.

Is my NatWest statement stored?

The PDF is processed in memory and never kept. Only the extracted spreadsheet is stored, for your plan's retention window, then deleted.

Which date format will the Excel file use?

NatWest statements usually show dates as DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY; Rowvert converts them to real Excel dates so they sort and filter correctly.
